We seek a person of vision to work with the Council and lead the staff team in promoting the interpretation of the gospel for the city of Leeds.

As the Director you will be responsible for:

* Managing the Institute including a small staff team and a multi-purpose building

* Developing the work with churches and other faith communities through educating, training, resourcing and representing

* Organising and promoting a programme of educational activities

Working in partnership with others, you will be committed to church engagement in society, have management and training experience, have knowledge of recent developments in relation to faith communities and social inclusion, have some theological training, be a member of a Christian church and be committed to working ecumenically and with other faiths.

The Church Institute is a leading Christian foundation in Leeds. It houses a library, conference/training facility and a range of other organisations in its newly-refurbished city centre building.

This post, in a thriving ecumenical chaplaincy with many exciting opportunities, is open to ordained ministers/presbyters from the United Reformed, Methodist or Baptist Churches. Funding is initially for 3 years.

You will support the pastoral and spiritual needs of staff and students in an international, multi-faith university context, providing key leadership within a diverse Christian community. A house on campus is provided.

The post is part-time (75%) worked flexibly, with more demands in term-time than vacation. To facilitate a gender balance within the Chaplaincy team, applications from women are particularly welcome.
