Prayer and reflections

As churches are no longer able to meet together in buildings, we want to encourage and help people to pray, both within our own churches and in the wider community.   This section provides many ideas that could be used to lead people to prayer, both personally and corporately.

The Fear of the Unknown

A poem by Naomi O'Shea - a Christian poet and member of Counterslip Baptist Church

If the last year has taught me anything,
It is not to be afraid,
Because I have known someone much greater
Who deserves the highest praise.

Not one lock down, or two but three I have been able to survive,
This has only been made possible with Jesus by my side.
Although hope may have been lost for some,
my faith remains so strong,
stopping all these fears,
and things from going wrong.

I know that he is in control of every thought I have,
watching over me when I am feeling sad.
The future may seem bleak and grey,
to those who do not believe,
I know my Saviour's love will always care for me.

At times when each day, seems to be the same,
Jesus knows and feels my pain.
I know these feelings will not last for eternity,
As my Redeemer is there to guide me.

I look ahead and reflect on better times to come,
Times where we can meet together and have some fun.
But for now I must remain dependent on the trust I have within,
In the one who created me and gave me everything.
So, while I take a moment to reflect on the year that has past,
His great love within me will remain steadfast.
I know I can trust fully in the Almighty,
as inside of me the flame continues to shine ever more brightly.

I know with the Prince of Peace guiding me,
Everything will turn out just the way that it should be.
The road to get there may be tough,
But, as long as I fully put my trust,
Jesus’ love will remain enough.
