SPOKEN WORD: The God we serve
The God we serve is a consuming fire
Blazing with glory, Breath-taking in scale,
Mind-blowing in wonder, Heart-melting in mercy,
	The God we serve…

The God we serve is immeasurably more,
More than the limits our imagining, more than our reasonable requests
More worthy than we know of our awe and our worship
More worthy of our loyalty than the breath in our lungs
His love better than life itself
His love stronger even than death
That’s God! The God we serve…

The God we serve stands with us in the flames,
Incombustible in crisis, flame-proof in fear
Untouchable in sovereignty, unthreatened by any authority
You have nothing to challenge Him, His throne is so much higher
He’ll march right out of your furnace not even smelling of the fire
When the blaze rises He stands fear-resistant and ever remains
Until all that is consumed is our clamped-on chains
That’s my God - the God we serve…

The God we serve doesn’t stand at a socially safe distance from our pain
You cannot lockdown the abundant affection from above
Nothing in all creation can isolate us from His love!
The hotter it gets in here, the closer His presence appears!
Turn up the heat – until I’m burning to meet
More of You God! More of the God we serve…

The God we serve is higher than I
Though not always easy to see – His timing is perfect
Though we often think that He’s lingers – the waiting is worth it
See, it’s only in the furnace that our faith can be forged
It’s only in the battle that our fight can be fought
It’s only in the flames that He can prove fire-proof
It’s only in the den we see – He’s no lion-food

It’s only in testing, His trustworthiness triumphs as tough
It’s only in our weakness we see His grace is always enough
It’s only in His death that He can lovingly offer us life
It’s only in the darkness that His light can ever shine
It’s only in a borrowed tomb His Power proves unbeatable!
His Passion: undying - His Promise: undefeatable!
And that’s our God – that’s the God we serve!
