Richard Dawkins’ Fictional World

Robin Compston writes to rebut Richard Dawkins assertions in his much-lauded book, The God Delusion

By Robin Compston
A Sword & Trowel Booklet: 50p
ISBN: 9781899046386

Richard Dawkins Fictional Worl
He makes a robust defence of the Christian faith in this 32-page tract and provides much useful material to challenge the writings of arguably the country’s best known atheist. However in contrast to John Polkinghorne’s Science and Religion in Quest of Truth there is no real attempt to debate any issue and the battle lines are clearly drawn and preserved throughout the publication.

Dawkins writes quite aggressively about Christianity and fails to enter into a meaningful understanding of faith. However I fear that Compston writes back in like manner and does not really seek to address “where Dawkins is coming from”.

Maybe that is the way to tackle in a few pages the outspoken Dawkins, but it can reduce a useful publication to a rant rather than a valued contribution in addressing the pervasive atheism of the age.
