Small Church hub in SEBA
The latest Small Church Connexion hub was planted on Sunday 20 July, wonderfully hosted by Vicky Martin and her team at Union Church, Heathfield, Sussex

Forty-two people from eight churches met for fellowship over tea and cake then Hilary, with Simon and Rachel from Halton Baptist, led a service of praise, scripture, sharing the joys and challenges of the churches and prayer for each church. It was great to be supported by Andy Twilley, South Eastern Baptist Association (SEBA) Regional Minster.
The joys included having committed members, prayer and Bible study and Alpha groups and baptisms! Several churches work in their local schools. One runs ‘Open the Book’ which links into the curriculum. Several hold cafés (TLC Tea Laughter & Cake!), messy church, community breakfasts, meals for the homeless and toddler groups. One minister encouraged us to look at easily accessible resources eg Renew Wellbeing and The Bible Course etc.
The challenges included hard work for the leadership teams as three churches are without ministers, teaching those new to the faith and building issues. Pray for all people in the various community activities to be open to the gospel.
The feedback was very positive! Already there is an opportunity for the hub to worship together at Halton Baptist on Fridays. More hub events coming in the new year.
The next three Small Church Connexion hubs being launched in September and October, in Cricklewood, Burton on Trent and Dormansland.
If you would like to know more about joining or starting a hub in your area, please contact Hilary Taylor.
