A liturgy for the north  

The Baptist Everyone Everywhere movement, Faith in the North and Roy Searle have worked together to produce a Liturgy for the North, useful for churches and individuals to pray that 'everyone, everywhere in the north and beyond might have access to the gospel and a flourishing, authentic church expression'

The liturgy was created as part of the recent Multiply: North conference, and was weaved into the programme.  

Roy and friends from the Northumbria Community were commissioned to write the liturgy. It contains prayers and responses to help any church, small group or individual pray for the work of God across the north of England.

Multiply: North was hosted in St George’s Church, Leeds, by a collaboration of Baptist, Anglican and ecumenical organisations, united by a vision to see healthy churches planted and multiplied across the north of England. The organisers were CCX, Everyone Everywhere, St Hild Centre for Church Planting and Faith in the North.

Around 200 leaders gathered to share wisdom across traditions, contexts and models. Participants explored how we can build teams, shape culture and develop networks that help the Church reach new people, in new and renewed ways, with the good news of Jesus.

Alex Harris, of St Hild Centre for Church Planting and Yorkshire Baptist Association, was one of the keynote speakers, alongside Bishop Eleanor Sanderson, Bishop of Hull.

He said, 'The day sought to celebrate, collaborate and empower churches, leaders and networks across the north to plant, pioneer and renew churches. 

'The heart desire was to together release each other so that every person in the north might have a church authentic to who they are and accessible for where they are - geographically, linguistically, culturally, or stylistically.

‘A thread of prayer and reflection shaped the day’s programme. Roy Searle and friends from the Northumbria Community gave us prayers and responses that we hope will continue to be a gift to everyone praying for God’s kingdom to come, his will to be done.’
