Christians around the world are praying on 5 February

Churches, small groups and believers all over the globe will be praying with BMS World Mission on its annual Day of Prayer. Will your fellowship join in?

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray,” the famous passage in 2 Chronicles 7 says, the Lord will honour our repentance and our prayer. That biblical promise is at the heart of its annual Day of Prayer, and BMS invites you and your church to stand on it and bring its work before the Lord on Sunday 5 February. If you do, you will join workers, partners, friends and supporters of BMS all over the world.

For 225 years, BMS has relied on the provision and guidance of God to bring people to faith in Jesus Christ and offer them the abundant life only he can provide. Its missionaries, methods and management structure may have changed over the centuries, but our need for faithful prayer support has not. We are grateful to all the faithful prayer warriors, intercessors and quiet petitioners who regularly pray for our ministries, and we hope all of you will join with us (and our friends around the world) on 5 February to renew and reaffirm that support.

Day of Prayer resources for you and your church

Thinking of joining BMS in your Sunday service or for a special prayer meeting? These will help!

  • The new Day of Prayer video, that you can stream or download to show in your Sunday service, features a beautiful montage of images of our work around the world, accompanied by a poem by Christian poet Lucy Berry.
  • The Day of Prayer booklet has prayer points organised around BMS' seven key ministries and can be used over an entire day if you choose to dedicate it to prayer for BMS, or to a shorter prayer session.
  • The BMS Prayer Guide for 2017 is another useful resource for inspiring and focusing your prayer. It has a full year’s worth of prayer points to choose from.

BMS looks forward to praying with you!
