Welcoming our new Pioneer Ambassadors

Barney Barron and Simon Hall have been appointed as new Baptists Together Pioneer Ambassadors

Current ambassadors Ali Boulton and Simon Goddard offer the following statement

We’re thrilled to announce that both Barney Barron and Simon Hall will soon be joining us as Pioneer Ambassadors. This means the team will now be four strong, sharing the available funding to broaden and strengthen the capacity to encourage, equip, and advocate for pioneering across the Baptist family.

Simon Hall is a seasoned Baptist pioneer and mentor with decades of experience in church planting, youth ministry, social enterprise, and ecumenical collaboration, combining practical pioneering expertise with deep theological reflection and a commitment to nurturing leaders and innovative expressions of faith.

Barney Barron is an experienced Baptist pioneer who has planted and revitalised churches, founded youth and community charities, and built networks to support pioneers, bringing deep expertise in low-income and coastal contexts, mentoring, and cross-denominational collaboration.

Each member of this new larger team brings their unique gifts and insights into the tasks of supporting pioneers, inspiring churches and creating environments in which pioneering can flourish.

Gratitude is extended to all who applied for the role, whilst also acknowledging that the applicant pool was made up entirely of white men. In the light of Project Violet there is a keen awareness of the work still required to make Baptist pioneering more representative in terms of gender, as well as race. The team remains committed to actively supporting, encouraging, and investing in a wider diversity of pioneering leaders in the years ahead.

Please join us in welcoming Barney and Simon to the Pioneer Ambassador team and celebrating the ongoing work of pioneers across our Baptist family.
