New appointment to support ministry to and among 18-35s

Matt Ceaser has been appointed by the Baptist Union of Great Britain to succeed Isabella Senior as 18-35s Coordinator

Isabella started working in the Ministries Team in 2022. Her initial focus was to facilitate internships across Baptists Together. She created resources that help those in our churches who want to explore ministry through an internship, and help churches who want to host an intern or even run their own internship programme.

Each year she has been in post, Isabella has connected all the interns in Baptist settings that she has been made aware of – gathering them for mutual support and learning, and encouraging to consider what God is calling them to next.

Isabella’s role then broadened as she worked to encourage all parts of Baptists Together to think what ministry to and among 18-35s looks like. She has spoken at numerous events for churches, ministers and ministers-in-training, and also at Baptist Assembly.

Notably, Isabella played a significant role in bringing together the SENT cohort, a learning community of 30 Baptist 18-35 year-olds that met together to explore God’s calling on their lives over a two-year period. She has also connected with external bodies and ecumenical partners who are similarly focussed on this age range.

During her time with the Ministries Team, Isabella also completed ministerial training with Spurgeon’s College and is leaving now in order to take up a church planting role in London as a Newly Accredited Minister.

Matt Ceaser started in January as the new 18-35s Coordinator with a view to continuing to facilitate interns and internships, whilst looking for new opportunities to bring 18-35s together in learning communities. Matt joins from JustMoney Movement, a charity aiming to help Christians to connect faith and finances.

Matt is well embedded in his local Baptist church and has previously been an intern himself with the Joint Public Issues Team. He is passionate about equipping people to take faith-inspired action, and is excited to be working with Baptists in the 18-35s age range to explore mission in its fullness.

Tim Fergusson, Ministries Team co-leader, said, 'Isabella has provided a much needed national focus for the development of the of Baptists aged 18-35s. She has connected, encouraged and resourced them with such enthusiasm and commitment.

'I’m delighted God has provided Matt for us at this moment to continue Isabella’s work as she now pursues a new calling as an accredited Baptist minister.'

Matt said, 'I'm thrilled to be carrying on the excellent work Isabella has begun in this role. My aim is to be an advocate for 18-35s in our Baptist movement and to help local churches to welcome and work with this spiritually curious generation.

'Equipping young Baptist leaders through this work will be key to deepening discipleship among their peers.'

If you would like to know more about opportunities for interns or internships, or to ask questions about 18-35s ministry more generally, Matt can be contacted via this contact form.
